Aspart of the ceremonies lined up for the 76th Anniversary Celebration of the prestigious Lagos Island Club, On Friday 15th of November 2019, An anniversary Lecture titled Restructuring Lessons from Brexit was held at the Peacock Hall of Lagos Island club.
The former Governor of Lagos state and the current minister of works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN) was the guest speaker of the day.
Babatunde Raji Fashola is a Nigerian lawyer and politician, He is also the current Minister of Works and Housing.
Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola was born in Lagos state, on the 28th of June, 1963.
Mr Raji Fashola attended Birch Freeman High school Lagos and Igbobi College Lagos. Afterwhich he proceeded to study Law at the University of Benin from where he graduated with a Bachelor of Laws, LL.B.(Hon), degree in 1987.

His Tenacity and committment to the service of humanity, Earned him an Honourable call-up by the president of of the federal republic of Nigeria, president Muhammadu Buhari (GCFR) to be the Minister of Power, Works and Housing.
His excellency Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola is married to Mrs. Abimbola Emmanuela Fashola and they are blessed with two children.

In the welcome address of the executive chairman of Island club, Prince Philip Kola Abumere welcomed all to the historic celebration of island club at 76.
Stressing that the celebration is symbolic in many aspects, most significantly the guest speaker who was also the speaker at the 75th celebration of island club, which makes it 2 years in a row when he represented the president of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari (GCON).
The chairman of island club, prince Philip Kola Abumere stated that , The guest speaker Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola has an enviable history of association with the growth of Island club , As he is the 3rd generation member following the heels of his late father , and grand father.
The guest speaker, Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola , first congratulated the past members and current members of the prestigious Club on the iconic 76th Anniversary celebration,
This was followed by a standing ovation by the audience .
The lecture of the day titled Restructuring Lessons from Brexit.
The guest speaker Mr Raji Fashola, expressed that, the quest for a better life is an unending aspiration of the human Civilization. Which he described as a natural phenomenon.
Stressing that , Aspiration for a better change , Might lead to well cut out choices and Not so well cut out choices.
Adding that some demand for new local governments, new states , new nations within a country, Only to remember that a new country or new state might not deliver a better life.
Mr Raji Fashola Used Britain as a case study because of the similarities of both countries .

Asiwaju Alex Duduyemi presented a posthumous award for the former Executive member of Island club, Late Alhaji I. Ade Fashola (GCOB) and This was received by the son , Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola, Whi duly appreciated Island Club for their Gesture.
Also a merit award was presented to the guest speaker Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN), for his deligent service to humanity,
This was presented by island club trustee Arch Anthony Mogbonjubola Soetan

Cake cutting session which was conducted by Chief Aluko, Chief Adeniyi Williams, Prince Demola Dada and Erelu Abiola Dosunmu As photos and Video session ensued immediately.

Otunba Kehinde Shitta delivered the vote of thank, The club’s social Secretary mr Olatunji Folami led all in the club’s Anthem. Which was sang by all members..
