Frontline Health workers chase Akufo-Addo for his 50% Salary Increment

President Akufo-Addo, on Sunday April 6th, 2020 announced that starting from April 2020, Ghanaian Coronavirus frontline workers such as healthcare professionals will receive 3 months’ tax break and 50% increment in their basic salary.

There have been complaints as numerous front line health workers who have not received their payslips and salary alerts despite government’s promised of an increased expressed their disappointment to Smartandstuck.com.

Some angry Ghana health professionals who sent us email have confirmed to us that, the said promise has not materialized and therefore pleads on the Controller and Accountant General’s Department (CAGD) which remains the authorized body for the payment of government workers to do the needful.

Meanwhile President Akufo-Addo in his 8th address to the nation announced the extension of the ban placed on public gatherings for two weeks.

The extension comes into full force on Monday, April 27, 2020, at 1:00 am.

President Akufo-Addo appealed to Ghanaians to “sacrifice” now in order to defeat the virus.

The ban on public gatherings was imposed on March 15, 2020, for a period of 14 days as part of measures to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.

It was renewed on April 13, 2020.

With Ghana’s cases rising almost everyday, the government has decided to continue the freeze of social gatherings to curtail a potential explosion in the number of COVID-19 cases.
