Barr Seyi Akinwunmi Wins Supreme Media Excellent Award for Human Capital Development

The Chairman, Lagos State Football Association (LSFA), Mr. Abiodun Oluseyi Akinwunmi has won the Supreme Media Torchbearer award in Human Capital and Development in sport, 2022.

The award which was held last Thursday, 3rd November, 2022, at the prestigious Golden Gate Hotel, Ikoyi was 2022 Supreme Special Recognition Award to celebrate leadership excellence.

The Supreme International Magazine, the organizer of the Award’s 2nd edition was themed: “National Security Question: The Need To Preserve Our Today, Secure Our Tomorrow.”

The event attracted captains of industries, cream de la cream of the society, royal fathers and cultural icons across Africa.

Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi, who is the immediate past Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) 1st Vice President , has passion for youths and grassroots football development. As a philanthropist, in his younger days, was a talented left-footed footballer.

He also administered the game and still being involved in grassroots football development, growing young talents and discovering more.

He has attended courses, and spoken across the world broadening his knowledge of football, elected to various positions within the Nigerian Football Ecosystem which has directly impacted grassroot football development.

Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi was re-elect as the chairman of the Lagos State Football Association with a mandate to restructure and revitalize grassroots football in Lagos State.

Realistically, he has completely restructured football in Lagos State and transitioned from a dormant brand relying completely on the State Government for funding to a vibrant self- funding Association. As a result, Akinwunmi has created what is adjudged to be the most robust state youth development structure in the country known as “ekofootball Future project.

Mr Seyi Akinwunmi made history in Lagos State by winning gold medals both with the male and female ekofootball team for the first time ever, at the football competition of the National Sports Festival tagged Eko 2012 and subsequently won the trophies at subsequent sports Festivals.

The LSFA under his leadership has millions of male and female youth footballer participants – between 10 to 17 years – from public and private schools, academies and football club and also produced numerous male/female Age Grade National team players among whom was the Captain of the Nigerian team at the U17 World Cup held in Brazil 2019.

Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi, in the capacity as 1st Vice President , hosted and oversaw the Channels Kids International Cup as an NFF adopted competition for under 13 children in school across the country.

A man that loves God and also impacted lives of Nigerian youths, has raised fund for charity through the Seyi Akinwunmi Charity Foundation (SACF) for eight years.

Also Seyi Akinwunmi Charity Mini Tournament (SACMT) which is a yearly fiesta of football, to feed a minimum of 10,000 Children and funds the education of numerous talented, intelligent but indigent children.

Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi is happily married and blessed with four children.
