On Thursday November 3rd 2022, guests gathered at the prestigious Golden Gate hotel in Ikoyi for the Supreme Special Recognition Award to celebrate leadership excellence.
The award began in high spirit and the opening prayer was led by Bishop Caleb Atolagbe, the presiding Bishop of Power House Chapel Lagos.
Seyi Akinwunmi is the 1st vice president of the Nigerian Football Federation and present chairman, Lagos State Football Association (LSFA) Mr. Abiodun Oluseyi Akinwunmi has been awarded the Supreme Media Torchbearer in Human Capital and development in sport of the year.
The Supreme Special Recognition Award 2nd edition was themed: National Security Question: The Need To Preserve Our Today, Secure Our Tomorrow.
The event had the attendance of top captains of industries, creme de la creme of the society, royal personalities and cultural icons across Africa.
Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi is known for his passion for youth and grassroot football development. He is a legal practitioner of repute and a Philanthropist. Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi who in his younger days, was a talented left footed footballer has always had a passion for administering the game and being involved in grassroots football.
He has attended and spoken across the world to broaden his knowledge of football appointments. He is elected to various positions within the Nigerian Football Ecosystem that directly impacts grassroot and development football including being elected and re-elected as a chairman of the Lagos State Football Association with a mandate of restructuring and revitalizing grassroot football in Lagos State.
As a Chairman of Lagos State Football Association, he has completely restructured football in Lagos State and transitioned it from a dormant brand relying completely on the state government for funding to a vibrant self funding Association and created what is adjudged to be the most robust state youth development structure in the country known as; Eko Football Future project.
Mr Seyi Akinwunmi made history in Lagos State by winning gold medals with the male and female Eko football team for the first time ever at the football competition of the National Sports Festival which was tagged; Eko 2012 and subsequently won the trophy at subsequent sports Festivals.
The LSFA under his leadership has millions of male and female youth football participants aged between 10-17 years from public and private schools, academies and football clubs and has produced numerous male and female age grade National team players and the captain of the Nigerian team at the U17 World Cup held in Brazil 2019.
He has also hosted and oversaw the Channels Kids International Cup as an NFF adopted competition for under 13 children in school across the country.
He is a man that loves God and he has also Impacted greatness In the life of the Nigerian youth by raising funds for charity through the SeyiAkinwunmi Charity Foundation SACF for Eight years.
Also SeyiAkinwunmi Charity Mini Tournament SACMT which is a yearly fiesta of football, to feed a minimum of 1000 ( ten thousand) Children and funding the education of numerous talented, intelligent but indigent children currently in past.
