PEACE BROKERED IN NDIEZE LAGOS: ANOTHER WIN FOR SOLOMON OGBONNA; APPOINTS NEW COUNCIL OF NDIEZE CHAIRMAN

In his characteristic manner of seeking peace and wanting the goodwill of Ndigbos in Lagos, Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene was able to facilitate a new order in the Council of Ndieze in Lagos. This happened during the week with the instituting of a new leadership in the Council. Now led by the new Chairman, Eze Lawrence Nnamdi Eze, the Igbo elders are now working in consonance with Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos, the sociocultural organization for all Igbos in Lagos.

Visibly happy with the new development, Chief Solomon Ogbonna told Trek Africa Newspaper, ‘Today is a new era of Ndieze. I have appointed a new Council of Ndieze in Lagos state which will move with me and go to places where we go. We have done it. I want to let people know that I am in charge of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos. Government has shown us support which I have been giving to our people.

I will not be like previous leaders. The rice, ram, cow, oil that they gave to us, we have shared it and apportioned it to everyone. I thank God that He gave me that mind and conscience to do that. I pray so that God will continue to give me the grace.

We have appointed the Chairman and the Vice-Chairman, we will appoint others in no distant time. Eze Christain Nwachukwu is now the Eze Ndigbo Gburugburu. All the key players are now in Ohanaeze Ndigbo.’

‘My message to all Ndigbos is that we should not go any other direction than Sanwo-Olu whome we have seen as a very good product who has put us In a place to ensure that Lagos is moving forward.

So as Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Lagos, I want Gov. Sanwo-Olu to continue and there is no better way than for us to also have it at the center in Abuja. That is the best for us when we have State Governor and President in the same party’, he advised Ndigbos in Lagos.

Using the opportunity, Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene had stern words for the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Water resources, Engr. Joe Igbokwe whom he perceived is working contrary to Igbos. ‘We don’t play politics with our culture and tradition. There is nothing we have benefitted from the government through him since I came in. He cannot hijack people from Ohanaeze. If he had been yielding result, it would have been a matter for discussion so there is nothing for me than to relate him to the Governor as wicked and an enemy to us. He also has accepted that he is an enemy of Ndigbo.’

‘Joe has the arrogance to not know that there is leadership and respect to elders. My advice to him as my son, because as far as I am the President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Lagos, I am his leader and I am giving him a chance to come back home and reverse those things he said in ignorance and I will take him home’, Solomon Aguene told Trek Africa Newspaper.

The new Chairman of the Council of Ndieze Lagos, Eze Lawrence Nnamdi Eze spoke on his new role. ‘I came here for our regular meeting, I didn’t know that something like this will happen but it is all about service to Ndigbo and humanity. Anything about that, I don’t think it is a big deal because we have to be our brother’s keeper to make sure that Igbos are well-favoured in Lagos.

‘I was part of the executives of the former leadership as Financial Secretary so I am an insider. It is all about doing right, I will do my best, you will see action as it unveils’, the former member of Governing Council of FMC Nguru, Yobe state told Supreme International magazine

Also speaking on the new development to Trek Africa Newspaper, the former leader of Ndieze in Lagos, Eze Christian Uchechukwu Nwachukwu said: ‘there is a lot to discuss but we cannot sit down. We had some disgruntled elements so as someone who is open and free, we did the needful because we cannot discredit someone who has done well for Ndigbo. This is because I believe in justice so we keep supporting Solomon Ogbonna based on justice. We will continue to arrange and arrange that is the initiative of today.’

‘So we have new set of leaders in Eze Ndigbo. A new leader has emerged in acting capacity. We have come together to look at ourselves, where we are, where we have been, and where we are going. The government in Lagos is dear to us and we cannot do anything in isolation. Every Igbo must key into the new move. Asiwaju Tinubu and his wife, and Gov. Sanwo-Olu are title holders of Ndigbo and we don’t joke with them’, Nwachukwu concluded
