Smugglers Are Treated Harshly As Kebbi Customs Command Intercepts 11,950 Litres Of Petrol
A few days prior to the anti-bunkering squad’s deployment, the intelligence agents had been tracking the movement of loaded jerrycans of PMS to a location near the waterway on the basis of a tip-off.
“Our operatives struck and intercepted the 11,950 liters of PMS, and they then evacuated the substance to the Command’s Headquarters in Birnin Kebbi”
Commenting on the development, Comptroller Joseph Attah, Customs Area Controller for Kebbi Area Command, praised the successful cooperation of pertinent units under the Command and emphasized the necessity for security agencies to share information, cooperate, and produce results in the interest of the country. Together, he declared, “we are stronger.”
Comptroller Attah also reaffirmed his Command’s commitment to closely observing all waterways under its control, particularly during this rainy season, in order to prevent the smuggling of goods like PMS, rice, used clothing, and other items that could jeopardize national security and the economy.
He urged the border communities to provide pertinent information that could be used to stop smuggling activities in Kebbi State.
In the recent two weeks, the Command has resumed its campaign against smugglers and has made a number of seizures, including PMS, worn clothing, used cars, and foreign fertilizers.
