The President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Lagos, Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene has reiterated the activities of the newly constituted Ohanaeze Political Forum as the recognized body to drive huge Igbo voter turnout for APC come 2023. He also affirmed the preeminence of Ohanaeze Ndigbo as the umbrella body for all Igbos in Lagos, irrespective of their trade association, social group, or political leaning.
Speaking with Supreme International Magazine in a brief press conference chat, Chief Solomon Ogbonna noted: ‘Ohanaeze Ndigbo is a sociocultural organization and highly apolitical but we can direct and advise because as President, you are the father of Ndigbo resident where you are.’
Chairman Ohanaeze Political Forum, Chief Chris Ekwilo.
‘The politics of today is if you don’t contribute, your future and children’s will become garbage. This is not the time of Azikiwe and Awolowo that we trust them as leaders who are out for sacrifice. So the appropriate thing is to reach Ndigbo as the President.’
‘Any other person will not give the result, I have demonstrated it in 2019 through the election of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Ou. I was called all kinds of names but I am happy that my people have seen it that all campaign promises of Sanwo-Olu are fulfilled especially to my people in major markets. The committee for Aspamda has brought peace and prosperity. It is tested and confirmed’, he told Supreme International magazine
Making a passionate appeal to his kinsmen, Ogbonna said: ‘Lagos is the second home of Ndigbos in the world. There is nothing as good for us as Ndigbo where we have the largest population worldwide than we have the President of the country and the Governor of the state from same party. Ndigbo will position itself to follow the direction that Sanwo-Olu tell us to go. This is what will give us soft landing. This is how we will grow. Rome is not built in a day.’
On Engr. Joe Igbokwe, the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Drainage, who has been parading himself as leader of Igbo politicians in APC, the culture icon renounced Igbokwe. ‘I am using this opportunity to tell my people that there is nothing like Igbos in APC any longer.
The leaders are not able to deliver anything and have been denying us a lot. Joe Igbokwe is not a friend of Ndigbo. He doesn’t have a single integrity to convince Ndigbo to vote for APC. They have only succeeded in lying. We don’t have confidence in Igbokwe. He has not brought anything to the party or Ndigbo. He only uses money to rent crowd but not to yield results in terms of votes.’
Chief Ogbonna Aguene then informed Igbo politicians and residents in Lagos about the new development towards 2023. ‘The mobilizers of Ndigbos like Orobo, Igwilo, Baba Tata are all now in one team for a common goal. They have collapsed into Ohanaeze Political Forum. Ohanaeze Ndigbo is the umbrella association for every association including market groups.’
‘I am the current President with the mandate of the consent of Ikeja High Court. So whatever I say is true. Every directive will come from the Ndigbo Political Forum under the general leadership of Ogbonna who has the mandate for another 4 years’, Ogbonna concluded his chat with Supreme International magazine
