The Chairman continued that in the course of such operations, many members of the Armed Forces paid the supreme price thus, leaving behind family members who deserve care.

He explained that the launch of the emblem by government, corporate bodies and individuals together with other forms of support given to the legion will cater for many dependents of fallen heroes, saying they don’t have any budgetary allocation from the government.

Gen Jubril also used the visit to solicit assistance for recruitment into the Corps for family members of fallen heroes, saying that such a move would give the employed opportunities to serve the nation.

The Chairman further invited CG to honour the January 15th Remembrance Day Ceremony usually held at the National Arcade and State Capitals.

In response, the Commandant General launched the emblem on behalf of the Corps and expressed the resolve of NSCDC to continue to support and partner with the Nigerian Legion.

He lauded the Nigerian Legion for having competent members who are retired from active service and have great professional skills to impact positively on the training of NSCDC personnel, adding that the Corps will not hesitate to leverage such competencies in times of need.

Dr Audi decried the casualties suffered by the Armed Forces during the nation’s Civil war and even at the moment arising from asymmetric warfare which also affects members of the paramilitary agencies.
